Erik Clemons is the founding CEO of ConnCAT and ConnCORP, where he leads transformative education and economic initiatives that expand opportunities for underserved communities in New Haven. His work centers on arts-based youth programs, neighborhood revitalization, and creating pathways to meaningful employment for adults. A committed advocate for equity, he has also served on the Connecticut State Board of Education, championing culturally responsive learning environments that empower students to thrive. From helping raise nearly $1 million for families during the pandemic to launching a fund that supports Black-owned businesses, Clemons’ leadership is rooted in his belief that strong, equitable communities are built by uplifting people and opening doors to their success. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Hartford, a seminary degree in theology and ethics, and an honorary doctorate from Alberta Magnus College.
